2. Now save the file on the name of Genuine.reg (Make sure to save it with .reg extension.). Save the file on Desktop
3:- Close the file and go to Desktop and double click on the file you just saved. Run the file.
4:- Your Windows XP is now genuine. Restart your windows and that’s it.
Second Method
If you are not lucky and the above method is not working for you then don’t worry you can try this one.
1. Download this file
2. Extract it and Run the file.
3. Now go to genuine microsoft software and click on the button “Validate Windows”
4. Done
3rd Method
Even if the above two methods are also not working for you, then try this one.
1. Click on “Start>Run” and enter regedit.
2. Navigate to the following location.
LOCAL-MACHINE-SOFTWARE-Microsoft-Window’s NT-Current Version-WPAEvents
3. Now click on “OOBE Timer” located at right side of the box. Delete all the values and close Regedit.
4. Now click on “Start>Run” and type the following and hit enter.

5. One the next page select “Use Phone to Activate” and click on “Change Product Key”. A box will be shown where you need to enter the following Product Key.

6. Click on “Update” and then “Remember Later” option. Once you are done, Restart your PC.
7. Now the final step is to enter the below code again in “Start>Run” to make sure that your windows is genuine.

Now your Windows XP is Genuine. Don’t forget to read my previous article about winzip alternatives.

Dear, change the file extension from (.txt) to .reg
you can do this by Command Prompt or you can do this within windows. if you know how to show “known files extensions”
OR
you can save file at c:\ (root location of primary drive.) once done then run “CMD” command
your will be at “C:\Documents and Settings\[your profile/login name]>” with black windows
execute following commands:
1: cd \
2: ren genuine.txt genuine.reg
3: exit
You are done here. Open “my computer” and browse to the c:\ now you will see the same file turns into Reg file appears in green cube blocks. now hit it and you will make your windows XP genuine

i bought an asus netbook off craigslist with windows pro xp engineered to tiny xp … no problem for a good 18 months 2 years until i, at the suggestion of our office’s i/t person, since i was running out of space, transferred my virus program from avast to the msn security system — which is when the black pirate screen &c began to appear. our i/t guy put in some magic code to make my tiny xp pass tests — which indeed it did.
however, after i transferred some programs to a card, got rid of the truncated office program (only 4 gig on the virtual harddisk) to create some room, the updates on the windows xp totally flooded my tiny excuse for a hard drive and used it all up … rendering my little asus virtually unusable
my question — is msn deliberately flooding xp programs w/updates since they are outphasing them now?

Thank you very much for the help. I had issues at first with the validation after restarting my computer, but followed DA’s advice went to the registry editor and denied access to the SYSTEM user.
To do this, I followed the following procedure:
1.) Start->Run->typed “regedit” and clicked OK.
2.) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-> SOFTWARE-> Microsoft-> Windows NT-> WPAEvents
3.) Right click on WPAEvents-> Permissions…-> SYSTEM-> Click ‘Deny’ under ‘Full Control’

Guys nothing needs to be done to avoid the notifications.
Only do the following-
Launch RegEdit in run command.
Browse to the following location-
Hkey-local-machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current version\Winglogon\Notify
now delete d folder ‘Wgalogon’and all its content
now restart ur computer and its done

My problem is unique, I am not able to access my PC. Every time I select “Resolve now” or Resolve Later”, it comes back to same screen. I lived with the annoying popup for couple of months but now I am not able to access my PC
follow the below steps to make windows XP genuine.
1) start > run > “regedit” (without the quotes of course)
2) go to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\… NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents\OOBETimer
…and doubleclick on it. Then change some of the value data to ANYTHING ELSE…delete some, add some letters, I don’t care…just change it!
now close out regedit.
3) go to start > run > “%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a” (again, dont type the quotes)
4) the activation screen will come up, click on register over telephone, then click on CHANGE PRODUCT KEY, enter in this key: JG28K-H9Q7X-BH6W4-3PDCQ-6XBFJ.
if I will run the regedit, it will say:
