Apple might be popular nowadays because of its devices such as iPods, iPhones and iPads but Mac computers are the key products of Apple. Over the years we’ve seen several Mac models such as Mac Mini, a small form factor computer, iMac that’s a standard all-in-one computer and Mac Pro that works like a powerful workstation. As you know, workstations are usually designed for technical or science applications and they often require a lot of hardware power. As you might know, first Mac Pro has been released in 2006 and since then we’ve seen two revisions of Mac Pro, and now Apple has recently released another Mac Pro with improved specifications so let’s see what does the new Mac Pro has to offer.
New and improved Mac Pro will offer you some amazing specifications. First, Mac Pro can use two processors so that you can get up 12 cores available. Besides that, you can use a single processor such as Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” that works on 3.2 GHz but if you need more power you can choose ”Westmere” processor that is available in both quad-core and 6-core versions. This can give you some impressive results and you can get an 8-core system at 2.4GHz or an amazing 12-core system at 2.93GHz. In addition, there’s a Turbo Boost feature that will raise your processor speed according to the workload. As you can see, with Mac Pro, you’ll always have enough of processor power. As for the memory, Mac Pro comes with four memory slots and dual processor system can support up to 32 GB of memory while single processor system supports up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory. Mac Pro comes with one of the following graphic cards: ATI Radeon HD 5770 or ATI Radeon HD 5870. Both of them are equipped with 1GB of GDDR5 memory and you can even install two ATI Radeon HD 5770 cards for maximum performance. Next item on our list is the storage space. New Mac Pro can support up to four hard drives and that’s 8TB of storage space. In addition, you can use SSDs as well and you’re going to be thrilled because Mac Pro doesn’t use cables for connection of the hard drives. All drives are attached directly and they can be easily replaced.
Mac Pro offers amazing performance but you should know that the starting price of the quad-core model is $2,499 and the price can only go up depending on your specifications.
