4 Free Duplicate Content Checker Tools

Duplicate content is the worst enemy for any blog and it can cost you a lot if google founds duplicate content in your blog. Your blog can either get removed from the search engine or its ranking can be dropped for all your targeted keywords.

As you know TechMaish is a guest posting blog where most of the posts are contributed by the guest bloggers, internet marketers and business owners. I always check articles before publishing on my blog, because now a days most of the people are hiring writers to write articles on different topics and then publish on guest posting blogs.

A article written by a freelancer has always the issue of duplicate content, because of excessive load on the writer. OR the quality factor can be ignored by the writer which makes the article unprofessional and promotional one. I always check my published articles on regularly basis to check if any of my blog article is copied. I am using different tools to detect duplicate content and some of them are great tools available for free. Although the tools are free, but if you buy a premium package then you can get accurate and detail result for your searches.

Four Free Duplicate Content Checker Tools

1. Copyscape

One of my favorite, reliable and accurate tool is copyscape, which provides me the ability to search published and unpublished articles against duplicate content issue. The tool will search all pdf files, internet websites, blogs, forums etc and find the locations with links from where a article is copied.

The tool is free, but in free package you can only search already published articles through its link. If you want to check a unpublished article then you need to buy credits. 1 credit is charged for checking a article having maximum 2000 words. You can buy 200 credits for just $10 ($.05 per credit).

If you deal with high volume of content then you can get premium API to integrate the tool in your CMS and search all the articles inside your blogging platform.

2. Duplichecker

Another free tool where you can check unpublished articles for free is duplichecker. You can either paste the article or upload the .txt file to let the tool search the article and find out if it is copied or a unique one. It can use Google, Yahoo and MSN indexer to search the duplication on internet. However the recommended indexer is Google.com

3. Plagiarisma

This tool has 3 option that allows you to detect duplicate content issue. You can search the whole text, or URL of a article or you can upload a .txt, .doc, .rtf etc files. More then 190 languages are supported by the tool and the accuracy of the result is sure.

4. Plagium

This tool allows you to paste a article having maximum 25,000 characters. It is one of the best alternative of copyscape tool having advance features. Get email alerts when your article is copied, work with yahoo, bing and google indexer.

They also offer premium membership where you can buy 60,000 characters for just $1 (around 12 searches) and 1000,000 characters for just $10 (around 220 searches).

Hope these tools will help you to check a unpublished article or published one to protect your blog from duplicate content issue. Let me know if you know about any other reliable and free tool.

    Nice Article Buddy!
Personally i use Google to check if the content is copied or not :), it seems to be better than everything according to me. CopyScape sucks sometimes!

Thank you for this post! 😉

I used copyscape.com but some times i got wrong results…
I think the best way to check just copy the content upto 30-35 words and paste in google and find out if there is same content anywhere… then again you can copy next paragraph and check it..

Great advice! My blog had gotten 500 articles this weekend in 48 hours submitted mostly by robots. Of course, most of the content was duplicate content already on other websites. I will try some of these tools to at least see if they help out some.

    Thank you!

The Duplicate content issue has been blown up out of all proportion. Duplicate content is everywhere. As an example, do you think google De-indexes or penalizes the thousands of News sites that publish the same news articles? Of course they don’t. Duplicate content refers to duplicate content on the same website URL. I have no problem adding content to my sites that have been published elsewhere. As for articles being plagiarized , as long as it’s not the full article and whoever uses it posts a link back to the page URL it was taken from, I have no problems with that either :)

These duplicate article checkers seem to work in reverse. 😀 I expect that my article has duplicate but none are found. I am pretty I submitted them somewhere but no results are found! What could be the reason behind this?
