Official Ways to Watch IPL (India)

Star Sports (TV) — the main free route

Star Sports (Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 Hindi, and regional-language feeds) broadcasts every IPL match on television across eight languages. If you have any DTH or cable subscription (Tata Play, Airtel Digital TV, d2h, DEN), you can watch live on TV at no extra cost. This is the most dependable free option in India.

JioHotstar — official digital streaming (now paid/hybrid)

Important update: Disney+ Hotstar became JioHotstar after the Reliance Jio–Star India merger; if you’re looking for “Hotstar”, it’s now at jiohotstar.com. Unlike the free-for-all JioCinema era, JioHotstar now uses a paid/hybrid model (mobile plans from around ₹79/month; higher tiers for HD, multiple screens and smart-TV). It holds the exclusive IPL digital rights in India and offers the best experience (multi-language commentary, replays, up to 4K on premium) — but it is no longer unlimited-free for everyone.

Free JioHotstar via telecom recharge

The main way to get JioHotstar free is through a bundled subscription on select Jio, Airtel or Vi recharge plans — many data add-ons and monthly/quarterly/annual packs include complimentary JioHotstar access. If you’re on one of those plans, you can stream IPL at no extra cost. Check your operator’s current plans for one that bundles JioHotstar.

Official Ways to Watch IPL (Outside India)

There is currently no fully-free official IPL stream outside India — international coverage is via paid regional broadcasters:

• USA & Canada: Willow TV (around $9.99/month) carries every match with English and Hindi commentary; also on Sling TV and Fubo.
• UK & Ireland: Sky Sports Cricket holds rights; watch via Sky Go or a NOW Sports pass without a full Sky subscription.

Unofficial Free Streaming Sites (Use Caution)

Sites like CricHD, CricTime, SmartCric and WebCric rebroadcast IPL free without a licence. They are widely used but are unofficial and illegal in most countries (a Copyright Act violation in India), carry heavy ads and malware risk, and change domains constantly after takedowns. If you use them, an ad blocker like uBlock Origin is essential. We recommend the legal options above instead.

How to Watch IPL on PC or Laptop

The official route: go to jiohotstar.com in your browser, sign in (or use a plan that bundles JioHotstar), open the cricket section and click the live IPL match. On TV, simply tune to Star Sports via your DTH box. A wired or strong Wi-Fi connection (25–50+ Mbps) gives the smoothest HD playback.

A Note on VPNs

Some fans outside India connect a VPN to an Indian server and use an Indian JioHotstar account to access cheaper local pricing.
