In order to prevent the situation from becoming worse, it is advisable to get off the internet as soon as possible. If you must use the internet then ensure that the cause of the breakdown is not virus because if it is, then doing this will only serve to corrupt your computer further. Once you have logged off from the net, you should perform full system scans. In case you don’t have an anti-virus program installed on your computer then now is the time to do it.

2# Recollecting Past Actions

Now that you have got rid of malware and viruses, you can go back online and look for help in technical support forums or message boards. Also, as far as possible, try to recollect all that you did prior to the crash so that you can identify what you did that caused the problem to arise in the first place.

3# Undo Recent Modifications

If you have changed any settings lately, like updating any drivers or software or installed any new program then you should undo or reverse such changes because these might be responsible for your computer’s breakdown. Such changes that you made might have caused registry errors or incompatibility issues, so it is advisable to reset the settings or reverse whatever changes you made. Once finished, restart your computer and see if the problem has been solved or is still persisting.

When you are facing problem accessing the internet or opening any programs in the normal mode then switching over to Safe mode is a viable option. In this way, you will be able to perform a lot of functions that may not have been possible in the normal mode like reversing any recent changes, uninstalling a program or repairing your Windows registry.

5# Check for Problems With Your RAM

If your computer simply refuses to start up again then you can check for any signs of problems with your RAM. In case you know how to remove the RAM from the computer then do so by opening the chips one by one and then alternate the slots in which these were inserted. Subsequently if you can get the computer to start up after doing this then it means that the RAM chip was faulty and you can get it replaced but a failure is indicative of a hardware problem and hence needs to be tackled accordingly.

6# Remember to Back Up Your Data

In case you feel that all hope is lost and you need to consult a computer technician to solve this problem then make sure you back up your data.
