Top 5 Children’s Toys of 2012 – The Top Toys that Everyone Will Want This Year

Children’s entertainment is a competitive and thriving business. Whatever the financial climate, people will always buy toys for children, especially if they have the elements of play and learning combined. 2012 looks set to be a huge year for children’s toys so here’s an overview of the top five toys which are set to be huge this year.

Education, Education, Education

The winner of 2012 Educational Toy of the Year Award, 2012 Preschool Toy of the Year Award and 2012 Toy of the Year award is the LeapPad, a Learning Tablet for Kids. This is set to be the big product this year as technology keeps getting better and more accessible. With so many adults owning ipads, iphones and ipods it’s only natural that a children’s tablet would be released. This tablet encourages learning whilst also interacting with the child, (not to mention that it will stop your child asking to borrow your ipad for the games!) It’s aimed at 4-9 year olds, and you can look at alternatives such the VTechInno Pad

For younger children, the Let’s Rock Elmo is still selling like hot cakes. This singing and playing Sesame Street character is a firm favourite for toys for toddlers this year. It is suitable for children aged 18 months and up and prices start from around £20/$35. Elmo features 6 songs and comes with a microphone and two instruments to play.

Learner Drivers

Unsurprisingly, the third best toy for 2012 looks set to be a miniature car. However, there’s nothing too mini about The Avigo Chevrolet 12V Camaro. It’s a children’s sized car fitting two children. It’s battery operated and drives when the ‘driver’ presses the pedal. This car can even get up to speeds of 5MPH and is a beautiful version of the adult GM Chevrolet Camaro. A firm favourite in America, this will soon storm other countries as children learn how to ‘drive’ their own car!

Hair and Pets

For girls, the Lalaloopsy Silly Hair Jewel Sparkles Doll is number four in the top five list of children’s toys. The doll is supposed to inspire hairdressing as the hair is wild yet malleable. Each doll comes with a Parisian cat giving the toy extra flair and appeal. This is just one in a huge range of Lalaloopsy dolls set to become big in 2012.

Lastly, a great toy for both girls and boys is the Xia Xia pets and play sets. These are a collection of crab toys which have captured the hearts of little ones everywhere! They’re recommended for children 3 years and up and can walk and dance. These are inexpensive children’s toys and you can collect a whole set as well as homes for the crabs!
