Sony Xperia Z Review And Specifications

Sony had put an end to their Ericsson series with the launch of Xperia; and the Xperia series have reached the tail of alphabets even though have skipped some with the launch of Sony Xperia Z.  Xperia Z can be considered as, one among the Smartphone which occupies the peak of Smartphone technology.

With the list of exciting features in Xperia Z it’s quite clear that this device is really impressive and the only fault we could notice with Xperia Z is the screen size. Some Sony lovers and Smartphone enthusiasts have declared that the Sony Xperia Z could beat the Apple and Samsung devices rather than just competing with them.

The previous version of Xperia, Xperia S was launched just a year ago and now we have the best version, Xperia Z in our hands.  Here we are going to explore the Sony Xperia Z.

Build and Design

Sony Xperia Z comes with an impressive and excellent design, having full HD display on its 5 inch screen with 443 pixels per inch. The device has a glossy look due to its reflective glass surface. The 146 gram weighing device is dust and water resistant, where water resistant capacity is up to 1 meter and 30 minutes.

The phone has very sharp design with discrete curves only on the edges and these edges are made from polyamide with glass fibers. Moreover there won’t be a need of protective casing since the edge of phone is 1/10th of a millimeter thicker than the front and back, which will protect it from scratches.


Xperia Z has a TFT capacitive touch screen of 5 inches having 1080x 1920 pixels which is the peak of Smartphone capabilities. The device has got sharp edges with full HD display as we said above and the display settings include 16M colors, shatter proof and scratch resistant glass. Furthermore, the device has Multitouch facility supporting 10 fingers.


Xperia Z posses a 16GB internal memory and runs on 2 GB RAM and has microSD slot with memory expansion up to 64 GB. The device is running on the latest Qualcomm chipset, having a quad-core Krait CPU running at 1.5 GHz and has an Adreno 320 GPU.  The phone has a non removable Li-ion 2330 mAh Battery.

The Sony Xperia Z is the first Sony device to run on Android 4.1.1 or Jelly Bean, also the authorities have already planned to upgrade to version 4.2, when it comes to the market. Xperia Z owns a launcher having five home screens which is filled with app icons and widgets from Sony.  The control keys that are available on the phone are back, home and tasks.


The primary camera has a resolution of 13 MP with 4128×3096 pixels but the resolution drops to 12 MP, 3920×2940 when switched to the Superior Mode. The other feature of Xperia Z’s camera includes Geo tagging, touch focus, sweep panorama, face detection, etc. Video recording is possible with 1080p at 30fps. The secondary camera or face camera is of 2.2 MP with 1080o at 30fps.
