Review of Free SEO add-ons for Drupal

As most website owners know, SEO is critical in order to draw in visitors to your website. If you want organic search engine traffic, your site needs to be optimized. Here are some excellent and free SEO add-ons for Drupal to implement into your existing website.

Nodewords is an awesome little plugin that allows you to add metatags to all of your Drupal pages. For those that don’t know, metatags are extremely important in getting your website boosted in the search engine rankings. Metatags can only be seen in the website’s source but can contain things like additional keywords and website description. Your website description is what is shown on the search engine page under your website’s name and describes what your website is about. Without this description, the person browsing will most likely click on another result instead of yours. You need Nodewords for these exact reasons. The best part about Nodewords is that it is extremely easy to setup to use. After installing, there is a settings tab that allows you to choose what you would like to edit. Then options like “global metatags” can be edited all in one menu, allowing you to set up the descriptions for each one of your pages along with additional keywords.

Pathauto is the best add-on to use to change the URL structure of all those ugly links on your website. Instead of having example.com/15934, you can change all of your URLs to the title that you want such as example.com/dogwalkingtips. This is extremely helpful in terms of SEO and allows search engine crawlers to index your pages for the keywords that you want. After installing this add-on, one of the coolest features associated with it is that is can automatically generate the URL using a “pattern” system that looks over your content so you don’t even need to enter in a unique URL unless you want to. In the user interface, these “patterns” can be customized to your liking. For instance, if you have tons of pages that contain videos, Pathauto can create unique URLs specified to the “video” keyword, if you choose to do so. Tons of customization options are available to make your site more visible to search engines.

You can check everything from page titles, URL paths, to alternate image tags to make sure that your site is completely optimized. Tons of options are available for you to look over to make sure that your site is as optimized as it can be. By utilizing this add-on, there’s no need to worry if your site will get recognized by search engines.

Each one of these add-ons is easy to install and even easier to customize. By using any one of these free SEO add-ons, you’re well on your way to a much better optimized site and may even gain more organic visitors from the search engines.
