Gaming has come a long way, from having to buy physical copies of game titles, to now being able to make a mobile casino deposit by phone bill.
While we tend to focus on the future of gaming, and how far the current generations of consoles can be taken, some gamers are more a fan of retro gaming. Through the use of a new set of consoles created to run older games, it is easier than ever to play the old games from our past. This is probably why Nintendo have decided to release the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment system.
The news of this release has caused a lot of excitement for gamers who have nostalgic memories of playing some of the Nintendo classics on the console. What makes this console somewhat special is the fact that games will come pre-installed instead of expecting the gamer to purchase cartridges to play the games on. Here is the list of games that will be available:
- Balloon Fight
- Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
- BUBBLE BOBBLE
- DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE
- Donkey Kong
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- GHOSTS’N GOBLINS
- Kirby’s Adventure
- FINAL FANTASY
- MEGA MAN 2
- Kid Icarus
- NINJA GAIDEN
- Mario Bros.
- Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
- The Legend of Zelda
- SUPER C
- Super Mario Bros.
- Super Mario Bros. 2
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- Tecmo Bowl
Just looking at this list, retro fans are going to be excited at what they are getting. Even casual gamers will notice that Super Mario Bros. 3 is included on the list. This title in itself makes it a must buy for some fans, though other retro fans may not rush to buy it.
The fact is there are already retro consoles that have been released and these players are more than likely to own the top titles like Super Mario Bros. 3, and will be reluctant to spend money on a restricted console like the Nintendo Classic Mini: NES. For many though this is a list of games that will make this an easy buy, even if it is just for the convenience factor of having all these games available.
If this console does prove to be a success with fans, it will be interesting to see if any other consoles get this treatment. We’ve already seen handheld versions of consoles such as the SEGA Master System, and now with this NES release it isn’t a giant leap to other consoles such as the Super Nintendo, and that is where things start getting even more exciting.
It is arguable that the super Nintendo was one of Nintendo’s greatest consoles, and featured some of the greatest games. Just the mention of Super Mario Kart should get Nintendo fans excited, and that in theory may be the kind of title we may see on the way. That is, if Nintendo decided to give us a new SNES release.
Retro gaming is going from strength to strength, whether it be online slots, or through retro console systems. With the release of the new NES system, it will be exciting to see just where we go from here.
