Remember Motorola’s Droid RAZR MAXX HD with its 3300mAh batteries much-acclaimed for their endurance? Well, Lenovo has (albeit quietly) entered the ring with their IdeaPhone p770. Shipping with a 3500mAh battery that’s 200 mAh more than Motorola’s entry, which roughly translates to an additional 5 hours worth of standby time.
But of course, the competition’s focus isn’t solely on battery life. So let’s get the quick rundown on Lenovo’s latest entry into the smartphone market.
Processing Power & Storage

Lenovo’s latest smartphone comes in with 1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, and with Android Jelly Bean (4.1) to boot. With regards to its internal storage, it has a 4GB memory (and an 8GB MicroSD thrown in the box) with an expansion slot so you can use a MicroSD of up to 32 GB if you’re about to run short of storage space.
For the smartphone’s display, the IdeaPhone P770 has a 4.5 inch touchscreen qHD display with 960 x 540 resolution so you can enjoy those high definition movies and graphics-intensive games. If you’re not sure about the figures above, try playing your 1080p videos or games like Dead Trigger, N.O.V.A, or Need For Speed and see how those would look like in Lenovo’s smartphone. Quite sure it will be nothing short of stunning.
As for the camera, the IdeaPhone P770 has a 5MP camera with LED flash plus a VGA on the front. The camera on the back is ideal if you want to take quick snapshots while you’re traveling and the VGA front is used for the usual video calls using Skype and other messenger apps on Android.
Lenovo’s new smartphone is not the most-uniquely designed phone on the market. In fact, it can easily be mistaken for the Samsung Galaxy S2 at first glance! It’s candybar form measures at 133 x 67 x 11.9 mm and weights at 161 grams (a bit heavier compared to the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3). To give you an idea of just how big this phone is see the size comparison image below:
As stated above, the Lenovo IdeaPhone P770 makes its battery life its winning glory. You read it right, 3500mAh for its batteries. Talk about 29 hours of talk time and a month on standby mode. The iPhone 5, in comparison, only has 8 hours of talk time and just a bit over 9 days on standby.
If you use energy-saving modes, who knows how long this enduring smartphone can stay on? There really aren’t many gadgets (with the same specs and price range) at the moment that can come near to matching the IdeaPhone’s longevity.
The Lenovo IdeaPhone P770 is priced at ¥1,699 in China. That’s only $270 when converted into US dollars. Again, if you compare it to other smartphones and tablets, it’s really well worth the price.
To conclude, the Lenovo IdeaPhone P770 is a very powerful device at a very low price compared to other devices that can perform equally. The MediaTek processor is no SnapDragon or Nvidia but it still packs a punch when you talk about processing prowess. However, Lenovo sometimes releases exclusives and skips out on global releases, so let’s cross our fingers and hope they release their smartphone outside of Asia (and soon!). If they don’t, then let’s find a way to import it so we can get our hands on this juicy smartphone.
