Setting up your day trading station will take a bit of research and money. It’s important for you to invest in your day trading setup if you want to have a potentially better outcome for your career. Some make the mistake of buying a day trading computer that is insufficient. If you’re looking to purchase your very first trading computer or would like to upgrade from the current system you have, you can easily do so once you have the right knowledge.

The Processor and Motherboard

These two components are very important in any computer. You will find that having a high-end processor and motherboard will make your system more powerful and fast. Not knowing which brands and models to go for will leave you in the dust in this industry. A lot of day traders have already upgraded their systems with these components. There are three processors that suit the tasks of day traders, and those are the i7-990X, i7-2600K and i7-950. The cheapest of them is the i7-950, but offers the minimum clock speeds that day trader should have. Your best option would be to go with the i7-2600K and if money isn’t an issue, the i7-990X. The motherboards to stay away from are ASRock and Intel. Asus is known for having the best motherboards out there.

The Graphics Card

When having multiple monitors set up for your day trading station, you’re going to need a graphics card that will display everything accurately. You don’t want your screens blacking out or acting up. The one that is recommended for multiple monitors is the ATI FirePro 2460 PCle 2.0×16. This is a great choice for day traders and is used in the best day trading computers out there.

Buying Multiple Monitors

Every day trader who is heavily into the industry should be using multiple monitors. If your setup doesn’t have them or doesn’t support multi-screens, then it’s time for an upgrade. You can find customized trading computers that can support up to eight monitors. Most only use around four, but it all depends on your own specific needs.

Sufficient Memory RAM and Hard Drive Space

Your multiple monitor trading setup should also come with lots of RAM and hard drive space. The recommended amount of RAM that day traders should have is a minimum of 3 GB. For better performance, you should aim for 6 GB to 16 GB instead. As for hard drive space, it’s a good idea to go with 1 terabyte of hard drive space. A lot of day traders are crossing over from the traditional hard drives to solid state drives. This isn’t necessary yet, but if you like to stay ahead of the game, then you should definitely invest in one.
