Make Way for the iWatch

Since it’s relatively safe to say that Apple has successfully conquered the computer, the mobile phone and the tablet, what’s next for the technology giant? Well, if speculations are right, then it seems like a watch is in the works for the company. Rumors about an iWatch coming out sometime this year are spreading far and wide.

What exactly is the iWatch? Think iPhone, but for your wrist. Recently, there has been talk about Apple taking on their version of Google’s glass eyewear computer system. While Google seems to focus on a futuristic take, analysts are predicting that Apple will take on a more conventional route with the iWatch. It will most probably look and feel like a regular watch, with a leather strap to boot. As for design, the iWatch is predicted to closely follow the current iPhone 5 format.

What else can we expect from the first generation iWatch? Sadly, many believe there will be no webcam feature for this one. It is also believed that it will be reliant on the iPhone for its data connection.

So far, regardless of the design, everyone seems to be clear about one thing. The iWatch is a gadget that will be used to transmit information wirelessly from other electronic devices. Another thing that’s more or less of a sure bet is that it will have a touch-sensitive display, as well as a communication link that will allow communication between itself and whatever portable electric device it wishes to hook up to. When the iWatch gets information, the information will be displayed on the device, or  on the host device. Analysts are also looking at the many different ways that the battery will come in. There are rumors that developers are looking at a solar panel, or that the battery will be spread all across the device. There are even talks of either an arm or leg accessory that could be worn by the user in order to extend or enhance battery life.

When you look at predictions, speculations and even mock ups, it seems like the new iWatch is going to be either very conservative or all out futuristic. Whatever it turns out to be, it sure looks like a lot of fun. However, before everyone gets too carried away with themselves, it is best to remember that no one exactly knows what Apple is planning. So far, all of these are speculations and who really knows what the Iwatch will look like, and how it will function when and if it comes out. Admittedly, we’re excited for the Iwatch and can’t wait to see which guesses turn out to be right. Are you excited for it too?
