Aspects of The three Generations of iPad

The iPad is designed and marketed by Apple Inc is a line of tablet computers. It can be used as a platform for audio visual media which includes books, movies, music, games, apps etc. The weight of the iPads is not heavy as laptop and is not light as that of a smartphones, rather its weight lies between both of this. The operating system of iPad is same as that of iPod touch and iPhones, i.e it runs on iOS. The iPad is also controlled by a multitouch display. The iPad is also sold with the wi-fi and cellular model. Local area networks and internet are accessed by Wi-Fi connection whereas mobile data networks with 3G or 4G is connected by cellular models.

The first iPad was released in april 2010 by Apple selling 300000 units on the first day. 14.8 millions units were sold in 2010 by Apple.

Till now three different iPads have been launched by Apple, which are:-

  • First generation iPad(2010).
  • Second generation iPad or iPad 2(2011).
  • Third generation iPad or IPad 3(2012).

Specifications of First generation iPad are :-

  • It has the power supply from built in rechargeable Li-Po battery. It supplies 25 W-h and has life of 10 hrs.
  • It has the CPU of 1 GHz Apple A4.
  • It has the storage capacity of 16, 32 or 64 GB flash memory.
  • It has the memory of 256 MB DDR RAM.
  • It’s display is 1024 × 768 px resolution, 4:3 aspect ratio at 132 ppl.
  • It’s graphics is PowerVR SGX535.
  • It has the input of multitouch screen, headset controls, proximity and ambient light sensors, 3axis accelerometer and digital compass.
  • It has no camera.
  •  It has Wi-Fi connectivity with Bluetooth 2.1 plus EDR.
  • Its dimensions are – 9.56 inch (243 mm) in height, 7.47 inch (190 mm) in width, 0.50 inch (13 mm) in depth. Its weight is 1.5 lb for Wi-Fi model and 1.6 lb for Wi-Fi + 3G model.

Specifications of Second generation iPads are:-

  • It also has the power supply from built in rechargeable Li-Po battery. It supplies 25 W-h and has life of 10 hrs.
  • It has the CPU of 1 GHz Apple A5.
  • It also has the storage capacity of 16, 32 or 64 GB flash memory.
  • It has the memory of 512 MB DDR2 RAM.
  • It’s display is also 1024 × 768 px resolution, 4:3 aspect ratio at 132 ppl.
  • It’s graphics is PowerVR SGX543MP2.
  • It also has the input of multitouch screen, headset controls, proximity and ambient light sensors, 3axis accelerometer and digital compass. In addition it also have 3-axis gyro.
  • It has a front facing and 720p rear-facing camera.
  •  It also has Wi-Fi connectivity with Bluetooth 2.1 plus EDR.
  • Its dimensions are – 9.50 inch (241 mm) in height, 7.31 inch (186 mm) in width, 0.34 inch (8.6 mm) in depth. Its weight is 1.325 lb.

2nd generation ipad

Specification of Third generation iPads are:-

  • It also has the power supply from built in rechargeable Li-Po battery. It supplies 25 W-h and has life of 10 hrs.
  • It has the CPU of 1 GHz Apple A5X.
  • It also has the storage capacity of 16, 32 or 64 GB flash memory.
  • It has the memory of 1 GB DDR2 RAM.
  • It’s display is also 2048 × 1536 px resolution, 4:3 aspect ratio at 264 ppl.
  • It’s graphics is PowerVR SGX543MP4.
  • It also has the input of multitouch screen, headset controls, proximity and ambient light sensors, 3axis accelerometer and digital compass. In addition it also have 3-axis gyro.
  • It has a front facing and 1080p rear-facing camera.
  • It also has Wi-Fi connectivity with Bluetooth 4.0 technology.
  • Its dimensions are – 9.50 inch (241 mm) in height, 7.31 inch (186 mm) in width, 0.37 inch (9.4 mm) in depth. Its weight is 1.44 lb.
