9 Must Have and Best Nexus 7 Apps

Google has taken the liberty of including most of its own apps on the Nexus 7 such as the Chrome browser and Google Currents for news, so you don’t have to worry about downloading them. However, with a large focus on books and movies also coming exclusively from Google Play, there are a few gaps you can plug by making some seriously smart app purchases.

Not to mention that the limitations of the Nexus 7 in terms of memory can also be compensated for by leaning on cloud-based streaming apps, meaning you don’t have to store all of your favorite music or movies on your device. In this way, you can get all the functionality you could want from the Nexus 7 without over-burdening it.

Google+

This is one app that gains a great deal from being on a tablet rather than a smartphone. The Google+ app and its functionality have always been impressive. Perhaps being on the device will boost its popularity.

Google Currents

Customize the news stories you want to read and get a really solid overview of trending topics with this app. Google Currents is pretty new, but it came out strong with a great interface.

Google Books

Buy all the books you want from Google Play and read them anywhere. The seven-inch display of the Nexus 7 is an ideal size for novel reading, being similar to most of the popular eReaders.

FlipBoard

Easily our favorite personalized news app, and a fairly recent addition to Google Play, Flipboards smooth animations and page turning make it ideal for using with a Nexus 7. The curated fields are often excellent, with many official pages available that make great use of article text and images on the device.

Spotify

Since space on the Nexus 7 can be very limited, you’re probably best off not filling it up with music, Throw in the fact you’re not spending a huge amount on the tablet and you might want to invest in a premium Spotify account, enabling you to stream as much music as you like, as well as share your playlists with friends,

Kindle

Google Books comes ready installed, but since many of you may already have books on a Kindle device or app it’s got to be worth adding this to your Nexus 7. All your purchases are saved in the cloud so if you buy a digital edition on the Amazon website, on a Kindle device or via the app it will be available elsewhere.

Fcebook

Focebook is often installed on Android devices as standard, but that’s not the case with Nexus 7, possibly because of the presence of Google+. Even so it’s one of the most popular social networks around and the apps have always been a great way of accessing and browsing it while on the move,

Skype-Free IMS Video Calls

While the Nexus 7 doesn’t have a rear facing camera for taking photos, it does have a front facing one for video chat and that’s exactly why you’re going to want to make use of Skype. It’s very easy to use and cross platform so you can chat with PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad users too.

Tweetcaster For Twitter

Much like Facebook, there’s no Twitter presence on Nexus 7, so you’ll have to grab an app if you want to spread messages in 140 characters or less to all your followers. For that job you can’t do much better than TweetCaster, which may not be an official app, but it still works incredibly smoothly.

Well, the Nexus 7 combines the best of both Google and ASUS design, with the most advanced software from Google paired with cutting edge ASUS hardware. Really enjoy it!
